This one-day training course is designed to introduce health and social care professionals to trauma-informed approaches.

Participants will gain a foundational understanding of trauma, its effects on individuals, and how to apply trauma-informed principles to create supportive and effective care environments.  The course emphasises fostering resilience, promoting healing, and ensuring both client safety and practitioner well-being.

The course will support you to:

  • Understand the Basics of Trauma and Its Impact
    Recognise different types of traumas and their short-term and long-term effects on individuals.
  • Comprehend the Principles of Trauma-Informed Care
    Grasp the core principles that underpin trauma-informed approaches, including safety, trustworthiness, and empowerment.
  • Integrate Trauma-Informed Practices into Daily Work
    Apply trauma-informed strategies to enhance interactions and support with clients.
  • Identify Signs of Trauma in Clients
    Detect behavioural and emotional indicators of trauma to provide appropriate support.
  • Promote a Trauma-Informed Environment
    Create and maintain a supportive and safe environment for both clients and staff.
  • Enhance Communication Skills within a Trauma Framework
    Develop effective communication techniques that respect and acknowledge trauma experiences.
  • Implement Self-Care and Support Mechanisms
    Incorporate self-care practices to maintain personal well-being and prevent professional burnout.
