In our work supporting people, professional boundaries are essential to providing a safe, respectful, and responsible environment.
Professional boundaries protect both you and the people you support. We are often working on a deep level with clients and we have a responsibility to ensure that our help and support empowers and does not damage or alienate.
Our work can be emotionally challenging and professional boundaries also help us to manage ourselves and our emotional wellbeing, prevent burnout, and foster trust – all essential to effective frontline work.
This interactive online course offers a practical and reflective space to explore professional boundaries. Through discussion, real-life examples, and self-reflection, you’ll strengthen your ability to maintain healthy, professional relationships and navigate complex situations with confidence.
This course will support you to:
- Recognise and maintain clear professional boundaries
- Distinguish between personal and professional behaviours
- Identify and prevent unprofessional conduct
- Understand vulnerabilities and risk factors in your work
- Apply confidentiality appropriately and know its limits
- Reflect on your own practice to improve effectiveness
- Apply techniques to establish and maintain healthy boundaries
- Take the right action if a boundary breach occurs
