Communities of Practice for BHT Sussex Operational Managers

Communities of Practice provide a safe and supportive space for BHT Sussex operational managers to come together, reflect on the challenges they face in their roles and learn from each other’s experience.

Each session will focus on a different theme relevant to operational management. Rather than being a traditional training course, the Communities of Practice are an opportunity to bring real situations and challenges to the group, explore different perspectives, share ideas and consider practical approaches that could work in your own context.

Sessions will be facilitated by Maria Jonsson, an experienced facilitator who works with charities across organisational change, culture, leadership and team development. Maria’s approach is based on dialogue, active listening, self-reflection and peer learning, creating the conditions for honest and constructive conversations.

The sessions are intended to be supportive, practical and respectful, with an emphasis on learning rather than judgement.  Managers are encouraged to bring real situations and challenges to the discussion; however examples should always be anonymised and should not include information that could identify individual staff members, clients, or colleagues.

Session 1: Team dynamics – what’s really going on?

This conversation will explore the dynamics that shape how teams work day to day, including conflict between colleagues and the different perspectives people bring to the same situation.

Discussion could cover topics such as psychological safety, the manager’s role in managing difficult team dynamics, and how team culture can affect delivery.

Managers are invited to bring their own tricky team dynamics or situations to the session for discussion and reflection.

Who should attend?

This Communities of Practice session is exclusively for BHT Sussex Operational Managers.

Duration:

This 2.5 hour in-person session will be taking place at a Brighton Venue.
