New for 2026, this course is designed for professionals working in health, social care, housing, and community organisations.  It will support learners to develop their understanding and strengthen their skills in responding to the emotional needs often associated with a diagnosis of personality disorder.

Together, we will explore and challenge stigma, reflect on the strengths and limitations of diagnostic frameworks, and consider more relational, trauma-informed approaches to care and support.

The course places a strong emphasis on empathy, collaboration, and respect for lived experience. It offers practical tools to support meaningful connection, while also exploring how to maintain compassionate boundaries and prioritise self-care, recognising that supporting others begins with supporting ourselves.

The course will support you to:

• Define the terms complex emotional needs and personality disorder
• Recognise and challenge stigma associated with diagnosis
• Understand the difference between a medical model of mental health and trauma-informed approaches
• Build and maintain compassionate boundaries in professional relationships
• Identify care and support pathways, including both clinical and non-clinical
• Apply practical skills and tools that promote trust, empathy, and connection
• Reflect on how to integrate learning into your own professional practice
• Make effective use of support structures and supervision
